KARACHI, April 16: Indian film Taj Mahal will be displayed here on big screen from April 28. This was announced by Indian Film Producer Akbar Khan while addressing a press conference here on Sunday to formally launch the movie in Pakistan.

Expressing his gratitude to the present government, Akbar Khan said that the permission to display the movie here would help promote cultural exchange as well as friendly relations between Pakistan and India.

He said that Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had also expressed delight over the showing of the Indian movie in Pakistani cinemas.

The film has been donated to Pakistan for the victims of last year’s earthquake and in this regard Rs6.5 million had already been handed over to the government.

“Taj Mahal carries a strong message of love and I am here to convey the same to the people of Pakistan,” he remarked.

Akbar Khan urged the people that instead of watching movie on pirated DVDs they should go to the cinemas to do justice to the film, every frame of which, he said, was produced by keeping even the minute details in view.

Heroine of Taj Mahal, Sonia Jehan, who is the grand-daughter of legendary singer Noor Jehan, said that being cast as heroine for such a big film was a big challenge.

All Pakistan Film Producers Association’s Saeed Rizvi expressed hope that the film being a family movie would get a good response from public.—APP
