Briefing newsmen about the decisions taken in the Cabinet meeting, held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Advisor on Information Salahuddin Hyder said the matter regarding such land came up before the Cabinet which noted that there are pieces of land whose lease stood expired since 1961.

Out of such pieces of land, lease of 580 acres had been renewed in the decade of 1990. However, still there were 3,000 acres whose lease is yet to be renewed.

The advisor said that the cabinet decided to institute cases against DHA, KPT and PQA in the High Court of Sindh for occupying Sindh Government land.

The Cabinet pointed out that the Sindh Government is the owner of such land, but they have to get authority from Sindh Government for these lands for which they will have to pay the required fee.

The Cabinet decided to provide 200 and 100 acres of land to Higher Education Commission free of cost in the Education City for establishment of engineering and law universities.

It was pointed out that HEC will establish two universities in each province for which the required land would be given to it free of cost.—APP
