NGO leaves BD after adverse report

Published April 16, 2006

DHAKA, April 15: A Kuwait-based non-government organisation accused of fuelling militancy in Bangladesh by channelling funds to organisations, has finally decided to leave the country, sources in the NGO bureau say.

A spokesman for the Revival of Islamic Heritage Society (RIHS), sent a letter to the NGO bureau in the first week of this month, announcing that the organisation had decided to wrap up its activities and was preparing to leave the country before August.

The NGO attributed the closure to shortage of funds due to Bangladesh’s refusal to release funds since February last year.
