LAHORE, April 10: A three-day biannual meeting between director-generals of the Pakistan Rangers and inspectors-general of the Indian Border Security Force will begin here on Tuesday.

The meeting is a part of the ongoing peace process between the two countries and is held after every six months. It is aimed at coordinating the measures being taken by the two forces for effective border management.

Incidents concerning trans-border smuggling, illegal border crossing, drug trafficking, repatriation of inadvertent crosses and simultaneous coordinated patrolling will come under discussion at the meeting.

A 17-member Indian delegation headed by BSF additional director-general N P S Aulakh and comprising six inspectors-general, staff officers and Survey of India, PWD and Narcotics Control Board representatives will cross Wagah border on Tuesday morning for attending the meeting at the Rangers Headquarters.

The Pakistan delegation led by Rangers’ Sindh director-general Maj-Gen Javed Zia and comprising Punjab director-general Maj-Gen Husain Mehdi, staff officers and Survey of Pakistan, Anti-Narcotics Force and PWD representatives will receive the Indian delegation.
