KARACHI, April 10: Sindh Assembly members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Monday rejected the Jamat-i-Islami’s white paper against the party as a “pack of lies and a well orchestrated conspiracy.
In their joint statement, they alleged that the JI was allegedly trying to disrupt peace in educational institutions through its so-called ‘thunder squad” and was posing itself as a victim.
They recalled the opposition of Pakistan by the JI before partition of India and referred to Maulana Modoodi’s slur against Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
They also alleged that instead of accepting the victory of Awami League in 1970 elections, the JI had supported the generals and became their collaborator in repression against Bengalis and killed many of them through Al-Badr and Al Shams outfits.
They were of the view that JI was deceiving people by criticising the US from whom it had received dollars and other fringe benefits.
They asked JI was not making noise about law and order in the NWFP while it was making hue and cry over the situation in Sindh.
They asked the JI to explain whether the law and order situation in the NWFP and Balochistan was right?
They were of the view that the JI was making such allegations because it was afraid of the popular support of the MQM which they said was increasing day by day.
