SUKKUR, April 9: Chief of the Sindh National Front, Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, has claimed that the forthcoming elections would not be free and fair, as is evident from the policies and actions of the government. Addressing a worker’s convention in Jacobabad on Sunday, he said that the country was dismembered due to the federal system, adding that a confederation was needed to guarantee the integrity and solidarity of the country. He claimed that even the rulers were now realizing the need for a confederal system.

He disclosed that he had been offered a federal ministry but he refused and preferred to continue the struggle for the protection of Sindh’s rights.

Mr Mumtaz Bhutto further said that pro-federation feudal lords of Sindh were serving their vested interests and avoiding struggle for the rights of Sindhis.

He said that Sindh had been subjected to injustices in the past and the practice was still continuing.

He called upon the Sindhis to join the ongoing struggle for the recovery of their rights.

He said that only the people of Sindh would decide the timing for the construction of dams and no outsider would be allowed to do so.

Slamming the attitude of the ministers, he said that these ministers were busy in lip service while unemployment, price hike, poverty, lawlessness and other social evils had made the lives of the people miserable.

JUDGE INJURED: A judge of the Sindh High Court, Justice Shamsuddin Heesbani, was injured in a road accident on the National Highway near Naushahro Feroze, late on Saturday night.

Justice Heesbani was on his way to Tharu Shah from Karachi in his official car that overturned near Moro leaving him injured. He was taken to a Naushahro Feroze hospital and then shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad.

KILLED: Two persons, including a minor girl, were killed in an armed clash between Kori and Jalbani tribesmen, in the Bhando Qubbo Village, near Rohri late on Saturday night.

Kori and Jalbani tribesmen had developed a dispute over a minor matter, which turned into an armed clash, during which armed men from both sides the used hatchets and sticks.

Naila, 10, daughter of Mohammad Ayub Kori, and Mohammad Hassan Soomro were caught in the fight and injured. They were taken to Larkana hospital, where both of them succumbed to injuries. Police have arrested an accused Deedar Jalbani.

Meanwhile, a speeding truck hit and killed a motorcyclist, Anwar Mangi, 40, on Saturday night.

Anwar, was on his way home. He received serious injuries and was taken to a Larkana hospital, where he succumbed to injuries. The truck driver escaped with the vehicle.

FOUR INJURED: Four persons, including a minor girl, were injured when there motorcycle rammed into a donkey cart, at the Sukkur Barrage, on Sunday morning.

Abdul Karim, Abdul Qayoom, Abdul Khaliq 7, and Bakhtawar 5, were going on a motorcycle, when the accident occurred while negotiating a turn.
