Chan tipped to win feature event

By Aftab Gilani

LAHORE, April 8: Three-year-old chestnut colt, Chan, who is racing exceptionally good is being tipped to land the feature event during the 32nd Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday. He is contesting in the Muridke Plate, class IV division II handicap race to be gone over 1300 metres distance.

The well-bred son of Watbhat Nashwan out-of-Warrio, Chan has won two races in-a-row and will be on the trot to complete his hat-trick of victories on Sunday.

Among his rivals Run And Win, Ghazi Rifle and Big Bird are prominent to vie for the less remunerative positions in this seventh and last race of the day.

Three-year-old dark-bay colt, Late Arrival, who is in excellent form should oblige his connections by winning the supporting and sixth race.

The way Late Arrival performed on March 12 last, there seems hardly any chance of this son of Power Base not making it two in-a-row.

He should be followed by Zargar and Zardan.

Four-year-old bay colt Roshan beaten in his previous outing should make amends this time when he contests in the fifth race of the day's card.

Safe And Sound and Love Moon are the next best in a field of ten runners barring last-minute withdrawals.

The fourth race has a big field of ten runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. Of them Queen Of Saba, Scarlet Empress and Royal Destiny are on chance.

Queen of Saba on form and handicap looks better.

Golden Goal, Cross Ruff, Red Flame and Magic Mirror are the pick of 18-strong field for the third race.

Three-year-old colt Golden Goal is a speedy animal to out pace his rivals. The rider will matter the most in this race.

Five year-old horse, Top Figure looks set to win the second race. Owned by a former diplomat, Syed Parvaiz Hussain Shah and trained by Alimud Din, Top Figure has the ability to beat his eleven rivals.

Talal The Great, Billoo The Great and Bad-i-Naseem should fight for the lower positions.

The opener has nine runners. On bloodline four-year-old filly Attraction attracts the attention on her previous outing.

However, this is race called scrap division and normally results in springing surprises. This factor puts Black Leopard, Green Hill and Matellic in good chance.

A card of seven events will be decided in the afternoon. The first race will be held at 1pm.
