MULTAN, April 8: Business tycoons and industrialists of south Punjab have set up an Alliance of Recognised Chambers and Association (ARCA) to help solve trade-related problems and development of the area. The decision to this effect was made in a meeting held at the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) with its president Khawaja Muhammad Abdullah in the chair, said an MCCI release.

The meeting also unanimously nominated Mian Tanweer Ahmad Sheikh a candidate for the seat of FPCC president for 2007-08 elections. He has also served as the MCCI president and former FPCC senior vice-president.

A committee, comprising all presidents of chambers of commerce in south Punjab, was also formed to monitor the election campaign.

A media cell and ‘dispute resolution committee’ were also formed to address development and business-related issues in south Punjab.

Khawaja Muhammad Masood will be the committee convener while Mian Maqbool Ahmad Sheikh, Mian Mughees A. Sheikh, Khawaja Muhammad Yousaf, Syed Qasim Shah, Khawaja Abdul Ghafoor and Mehboob Nasir will be its members.—APP
