PESHAWAR, April 6: Promotion of education is government’s priority and providing of free textbooks and other educational material to the poor is part of the efforts to increase the literacy rate.
This was stated by NWFP Minister for Local Govt and Rural Development Sardar Mohammad Idress who was speaking at the inauguration of a school at Umarzai in Charsadda.
The minister stressed the need for quality education and research and said that both were necessary for the country’s progress.
He said the government was mobilising all available resources to eradicate illiteracy.
Highlighting the MMA government’s achievements, the minister said that the government was committed to enhance ing literacy rate, adding that parents and teachers should also share their responsibility in making students become useful citizens in future.
The minister announced Rs10,000 donation for the school. — PPI
