Demand for return of fishermen

MANILA, April 5: Manila has asked Islamabad to release and immediately repatriate 22 Filipino fishermen whose vessel strayed into Pakistani waters last week, the Philippines foreign department said on Wednesday.

The Filipinos were among the crew members of the Chinese vessel Chen Shi Sung intercepted by Pakistani authorities on March 28, it said.

Filipino diplomats have been dispatched to Karachi to convey the government’s demand, it said.—AFP
