ISLAMABAD, April 5: An emergency meeting of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) has been convened by its Chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim in Lahore on Saturday, before his departure for London to meet PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.

The information secretary of the ARD, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, said in a statement that Mr Fahim would take leaders of all component parties of the alliance into confidence regarding his proposed meeting with Mr Sharif.

He said that ARD leaders would review the political situation in the country and discuss plans for the next general elections.

It may be mentioned that Mr Fahim is to meet Mr Sharif ahead of a planned meeting between Mr Sharif and PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto.
