KARACHI, April 5: The chairman of city government’s hospital management committee, Dr Waqar Hussain Kazmi, stressed that research was the need of the day in order to bring improvement in health indicators.

He was speaking at certificate distribution ceremony of a workshop on research methodology conducted by Sobhraj Maternity Hospital in collaboration with the Department of Community Health Sciences, Aga Khan University Hospital.

Dr Waqar Kazmi, who is also director research and associate professor nephrology at Dow University of Health Sciences, offered help for carrying on the research activities in Sobhraj Maternity Hospital.

He appreciated the joint venture to promote research culture in the institution. The workshop mainly focused on concepts of epidemiology and bio-statistics required for conducting research by doctors in the field of medical sciences. It was attended among others by 16 senior faculty members and postgraduate trainee for FCPS and DCPS.

Dr Sarah Saleem, Dr Shabeen Naz Masood, Dr Tahira Resa, Dr Ashraf Siddiqui, Dr Zehra Tahir and Dr Abdul Qayum Malik also spoke on the occasion. — APP
