KARACHI: Exams for class IX from June 20

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 4: Following concurrences at due forums, educational boards in Sindh have started preparations for conducting the SSC Part I (Class IX) examinations from June 20, said people in the education circle.0 It was learnt that a couple of educational boards had already collected examination forms from students of Class IX, while others were planning schedules for the purpose.

When contacted, the chairman of the Committee of Chairmen (COC) of educational boards in Sindh, Anwar Ahmad Zai, told Dawn that it had been decided that the tentative date of June 20, as decided by the educational boards for commencement of Class IX exams under the old system, should now be taken as the final one.

“We have been given a go-ahead signal for Class IX exams. Students, teachers and others concerned should now start preparations for the purpose,” he clarified.

Following a decision of the Sindh cabinet that the old system of by-parts examination should be restored in the province at the earliest, the COC in its meeting on March 25 had fixed June 20 for conducting examinations of fresh students of Class X.

Ahmed Zai said a meeting of the COC would be held on April 8 in Hyderbad to discuss matters pertaining to Class IX exams.

“We will also take stock of the course contents so far taught to Class IX students during the session and what should be delivered in future, which would help examiners in setting up question papers,” he added.
