KARACHI: Ibad orders patrolling in sensitive areas
KARACHI, April 4: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has issued directives for beefed up police and ranger patrolling in all the sensitive areas on the occasion of Eid Mild-un-Nabi (SAW) and monitoring processions and meetings through close-circuit cameras.
He ordered removal of bottlenecks created because of ongoing development works on the routes of processions and said that immediate repair of roads be started.
He issued directives while presiding over a meeting with Ulema belonging to all schools of thought at Governor House.
Issuing various directives to TPOs on the demand of Ulema, the governor ordered removal of wall chalking, effective action against literature and elements creating religious hatred.
He said if any one wants to express his views or sentiments, he can use placards and banners instead of writing on walls
The governor appealed to all TV channels to telecast their programmes during this holy month in a manner that the sanctity of Eid Milad-un-Nabi is maintained and sentiments of Muslims not hurt.
He also appealed to Muslims to show patience and tolerance as per Seerat-un-Nabi and not to get provoked by any provocation.
For this purpose, he said, the religious leaders should advise people to remain peaceful in meetings and processions.
Dr Ishratul Ibad assured the people of Sindh and Ulema that the government is fully aware of its responsibilities and had made security arrangements and was providing facilities with reference to Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
He asked the Ulema to play their due role for successful implementation of these measures and remain in contact with police and administration for any religious activity.
The governor told the meeting that meetings are held for law and order, religious harmony and Ittehad Bain-ul-Muslimeen as and when required on various religious occasions and the government is thankful to the participants for their cooperation.
However, in this regard, an Ulema Council is being established which would prove an appropriate forum for all such matters.
On pointation regarding frequent traffic accidents at Mauripur Road, the governor informed that the City Government had planned the construction of 28 pedestrian bridges throughout the city, including one at Mauripur Road, although this road is under the supervision of National Highway Authority.
Allama Shah Turabul Huq Qadri of Jamaat Ahle Sunnat in his detailed discourse informed about details of arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions and submitted some recommendations.
Maulana Kaukab Noorani said that people may possibly express their sentiments against publication of blasphemous caricatures by Denmark newspapers on the occasion and mischievous elements can take advantage of this and, therefore, there is need to maintain strict watch on this.—APP
