CHARSADDA, April 2: Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Noorullah and two outlaws were gunned down while a constable was seriously injured during an encounter at the Prang Gar Bazaar of Tehsil Tangi here on Sunday. The DPO, Charsadda, Dr Fasehuddin told newsmen that two of the outlaws, Muntazir and his brother Haji Mohammad, were walking in the bazaar disguised as women and wearing burqas. A police official became suspicious and wanted to frisk them. The accused immediately opened fire at the police. The latter retaliated. In the exchange of fire, the ASI and Muntazir and Haji Mohammad were killed on the spot while Constable Mohammad Ishaq was seriously injured.

It may be recalled here that the Muntazir and Hamid groups have been enemies since long and the latter had recently killed one of the members of the former.

Eyewitnesses said that in the latest incident the Muntazir group was headed towards their rivals so as to take revenge for the last killing.—APP
