‘Kashmir issue resolution vital for peace’

ISLAMABAD, April 1: All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Omar Farooq has termed solution to the Kashmir problem vital for durable peace in South Asia. Steps had been taken for building confidence between Pakistan and India and now progress should be made to resolve the issue, he told CNBC.

He said India should give positive response to Pakistan’s proposals of demilitarization and self-governance in Jammu and Kashmir to pave the way for peaceful resolution of the dispute.

He said Pakistan was making sincere efforts for the establishment of permanent peace in the region. He said he was hopeful of a positive outcome of the ongoing CBMs initiated by both the countries.—APP
