Bahrain sea trips halted

MANAMA, April 1: Tour operators in Bahrain said on Saturday they had suspended sea trips after a traditional boat capsized off the Gulf island state, killing 57 people. “Trips to Hawar islands will stop for a few days ... After such a disaster a sea trip will appear to many people as not a good idea,” Sujay Uchil Mhcima, Indian general manager of a Bahraini hotel and resort, said.

Jalal al Darazi, board chairman of the Gulf Tourism Company, was quoted by the daily Al Wasat as saying that sea trips had stopped since Friday. —AFP
