ISLAMABAD, March 29: Hizbul Mujahideen denied on Wednesday that three of its members were arrested while leaving the tribal area. Police in Tank said the three, who were carrying explosives and ammunition when they were caught, had confessed to being members of the Hizb during initial interrogation on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, a senior police officer in Tank said the men were still believed to belong to the Hizb.
He said the three were from Karachi and had been staying with a comrade from the Hizb in Wana.
“They stayed in Wana with a local man called Faizullah, who is also member of the same group,” the police officer said.
Hizb spokesman Saleem Hashmi said the allegation that the group’s fighters were roaming around the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan was an attempt to blacken the name of Kashmiri fighters.—-Reuters
