FAISALABAD, March 25: Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) Chairman Rana Arif Tauseef has said that textiles have a vast scope in European markets after a substantial reduction in anti-dumping duty.
Talking to the press here, he said foreign buyers who were hesitant in placing orders owing to 13.1 per cent anti-dumping duty were relived to know that the duty had been reduced to 5.8 per cent. This decrease in duty had placed Pakistani textiles on a level-playing field against India and other exporting countries of the region, he said.
Rana Arif eulogised efforts of the government and Federal Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan for getting relief for bedsheet exports.
With the reduction in anti-dumping duty and the concession available under GSP plus scheme, Pakistan had gained some edge over India, he said and added, however, the main advantage of Pakistani textiles and bedsheets was their superior quality.
The PTEA chief claimed that this quality advantage was highly attractive for European buyers and they were ready to place orders with Pakistani manufacturers.
