KARACHI: Imam Raza moot today

KARACHI, March 24: The 26th Imam Ahmad Raza Khan International conference is beginning from Saturday at a local hotel where scholars will present their papers on the works and contributions of Imam Ahmad Raza to the field of modern sciences and Islamic jurisprudence.

The conference, which will be presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, University of Karachi, Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, will have two sessions beginning from 4.30pm.

The scholars who had arrived by Friday evening include former minister of state of Kuwait Al-Syed Yusuf Hashim Al-Rifai, Allama Munawwar Atiq Rizvi from London, Dr Shahabuddin Furfoor from Syria, Prof Saleemullah Jundran, Dr Allama Ahmad Samarul Qubbani, and Dr Mumtaz Ahmad Sadidi Al-Azhari.

According to the President of the Idara-i-Tehqeeqat-i-Imam Ahmad Raza International, Syed Wajahat Rasool Qaderi, Sindh Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Manzoor Ahmad Panhwar will represent Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad at the conference.

In reply to a question, Syed Qaderi regretted the attitude of the bureaucracy for its failure to issue timely visas to scholars who wanted to participate in the international moot.
