KOHAT, March 6: At least 11 people were killed and five others seriously injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the Indus Highway in Darra Adamkhel on Monday.

The bus had set off from Karak and was bound for Peshawar when it collided with the truck. The crash took place just as the bus overtook another vehicle near the Kohat tunnel at a village in Darra Adamkhel.

Eight people, including drivers of the two ill-fated vehicles, died on the spot. One passenger succumbed to his injuries after being taken to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar. Two other injured persons died in Kohat Medical Complex.

Three out of the five injured passengers were taken to a Peshawar hospital where the condition of one was stated to be critical, hospital sources said. The names of the victims are: Laiq Shah, Saib Noor, Azizur Rehman, Mohammad Ijaz, Sarfaraz Khan, Javed Hussain, Aqal Noor, Eid Marjan, Rehmatullah, Shamrooz Khan and Mohammad Waris.
