ISLAMABAD, Feb 10: Ashura was observed in the twin cities with renewed pledge to forge unity and harmony among different sects and avoid sectarianism.

The martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain is a guideline to the Muslims to fight for the cause of justice and not to surrender against evil forces.

Majalis were organized during the last 10 days while radio and TV channels telecast special programmes on the occasion.

Alam and Taazia processions were taken out which were participated by thousands of mourners. Strict security measures were adopted to check any untoward incident.

In the capital, majalis were held in which religious scholars highlighted the sacrifice offered by Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions.

The main procession of Alam and Zuljinah was taken out from Markazi Imambargah G-6/2.

Zakireen recited ‘Nohas’ and ‘Marsias’ to pay tributes to the sacrifice of Imam Hussain.

In Rawalpindi the main procession was taken out from Imambargah Col. Maqbool Hussain on College Road in the morning. After passing through its traditional route the procession concluded at Imambargah Qadeemi at Banni in the evening.

Zakireen and religious scholars delivered special sermons at Fawara Chowk.

The ulema of different schools of thought stressed the need for unity against evil forces.

Special prayers were also offered for the solidarity of the country. The mourners condemned the sacrilegious caricatures published in Danish and some other European newspapers.—PPI

Our Correspondent adds from Attock: Ashura was observed throughout the district with reverence and religious solemnity to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in Karbala for the glory of Islam.
