FAISALABAD, Feb 3: The Lyallpur Town Administration on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution demanding the government to immediately start construction of Kalabagh dam and other reservoirs.
The session, presided over by naib nazim Nadeem Aftab Sindhu, was attended by all its members.
Town nazim Rana Zahid Mahmood tabled the resolution which said water resources were decreasing with every passing day creating innumerable problems for the growers.
If measures were not taken on war footing to build big reservoirs, the country would face acute shortage of water for irrigation purposes.
Mr Sindhu presented the resolution before the house for discussion. The members spoke in favour of Kalabagh dam and adopted the resolution unanimously.
MUHARRAM: Pakistan army has assumed their duties in Faisalabad and Jhang district in order to assist the civil administration during Muharram.
The troops held a flag march on Friday.
Meanwhile, DCO Azam Suleman Khan said the administration and police had finalized all arrangements. Town nazims and members of the Peace Committees had inspected the routes of Majalis and processions along with the representatives of departments concerned and all necessary arrangements had been made.
He said control rooms had been set up in the district council and police lines.
