HYDERABAD, Jan 17: Tributes were paid to the founder of Jeay Sindh movement, G.M. Syed, for his services to Sindh at his 102nd birth anniversary observed here on Tuesday evening. The anniversary function was organised by Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz at the press club.

Speaking on the occasion, JSQM chairman Basheer Qureshi rejected construction of Kalabagh, Bhasha or any other dam on the Indus River.

He said if Gen Musharraf announced the construction of a dam, his party would close roads leading to Punjab and physically resist the construction of dams.

He claimed the federal government had decided to build Bhasha dam first. He made it clear that Indus River was property of people of Sindh.

Party vice-chairman Niaz Kalani held Punjab responsible for looting Sindh’s resources.

He said G.M. Syed had predicted many years back that without creation of Sindhu Desh, Sindhis would never get their rights.

Shafi Karnani said G.M. Syed had opted for sovereignty of Sindh, instead of running after power.

The gathering adopted resolutions rejecting construction of dams on the Indus and demanding end to Balochistan operation.

DADU: Former deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah has said that G.M. Syed was a sincere leader who had always guided Sindhis about their rights.

He was talking to reporters on the occasion of G.M. Syed’s 103rd birth anniversary in Sann.

He said G.M. Syed was a great scholar and politician in the subcontinent who had a strong influence in Sindh.

He said that Sindh would not receive a single drop of water if the dam was constructed.

He said that the army was killing civilians in Balochistan because they were demanding their rights.

A large number of people and activists of the JSMM went to Mazar of G.M. Syed and laid floral wreaths and offered fateha.

CARAVAN: A caravan of JSQM leaders and activists reached Sann to mark 103rd birth anniversary of G.M. Syed.

The caravan was led by JSQM chairman Basheer Qureshi, senior vice-president Syed Mujtaba Rashdi, vice president Dr Niaz Kalani and general secretary Dr Safdar Sarki.
