Fata cricket needs encouragement

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Jan 2: All Fata’s Agencies Cricket Associations (AFACA) has urged the government to give priority to the development of cricket in the area, saying there was great talent, which can be honed through putting in place facilities.

“There is great talent in Fata, but the cricketers in the agencies, except Khyber Agency have been ignored in the past,” said, Nisar Khan, Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) coordinator for cricket in the region.

He declared that the PCB was according priority to cricket in Fata regions and said that there would be no injustice with any players from Fata.

As a first step, all the cricket clubs in Fata would be organised at the grassroots level that would be followed by selection of players through trials, he said, adding that one under-19 team and another comprising grade two cricketers would be formed.
