Iftikhar seals victory

LAHORE, Dec 13: Two goals by Iftikhar Ali Khan Simba, helped Hi Tech Feeds beat Big Feeds 6-4 in the Adisseo Cup polo on Tuesday. The losers had a two-goal handicap. Both teams scored a goal each in the first chukker as the winners led the first chukker 3-1. Iftikhar, who in all scored four goals, struck first through a field attempt. Umar Sadik banged home for the losers.

The winners reduced the lead 3-2 in the second chukker as Mir Shoaib Ahmad scored the solitary goal. In the third chukker Iftikhar put his team on an even keel 3-3 by scoring his second goal.

In the fourth chukker Amjad helped Hi Tech to surge ahead 4-3. But Omar Farooq chipped in with a goal to level the score 4-4 before Iftikhar scored twice.

Two goals by Ahmed Nawaz Tiwana and one each by Abid Nawaz Khan and Raja Amer Khan helped S B Feeds beat Kashmir Feeds 4-0, in a two chukker match.

Meanwhile, a two-match series between Lahore Polo Club and its Jaipur, Indian counterpart, will be held at the LPC on Dec 16 and 17.

A five-member Indian team arrived in Lahore under the captaincy of Kuldip Singh Garcha.

Garcha, who held a news conference with his counterpart Abdul Hayee Mehta on Tuesday said that his other team members were Vishal Nihani, Ajit Singh, Bhupendra Singh Rathore and Shailendra Singh Rathore.

He said that Vishal Singh was also the member of the Indian team which participated in the Zone D World Cup qualifying round held in Lahore.

He pointed out that LPC had won Punjab Chief Minister Cup in last October in Jaipur.

President LPC Mehta said that best available horses would be given to the guests, in order to help them perform their best in two matches.

Mehta also announced LPC teams for two matches.

In the first match on Dec 16, LPC team comprises Ahmed Zuair, Naveed M Sheikh, Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana, Umar Sadik.

On Dec 17, Ahmad Ali Tiwana, Usman Haye, Saqib Khan Khakwani and Taimur Mawaz Khan will form the team.
