KARACHI, Dec 12: The members of consulate general of Islamic Republic of Iran in Karachi have reiterated support and sympathy on behalf of the Iranians based in Karachi for the earthquake survivors.

According to a statement issued on Monday, the consulate members on humanitarian grounds made efforts for provision of relief to their Muslim brothers and sisters in the quake-ravaged areas and decided to donate their one to three-day salary.

They also collected donations from the Karachi-based Iranians in cash and other kinds to offer it as a part of their contribution in the ongoing relief efforts for the quake victims.

In this regard, the consulate office had set up a camp at Hosseinyeh Iranian, Kharadar, for collecting relief goods from resident Iranians. All the collected items were handed over to the organizations engaged in relief operations for its transportation to the affected areas.

An amount of Rs250,000 donated by the members of the consulate-general and the resident Iranians in favour of the President’s Relief Fund was presented to Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad. —APP
