KARACHI: Promotion of sport activites stressed


KARACHI, Dec 12: The pro-vice-chancellor of the University of Karachi, Prof Akhlaq Ahmed, said that awareness of sport and physical education was one of the most important factors for the development of human resources.

He was speaking as chief guest at the closing ceremony of a two-day seminar on International Year of Sport and Physical Education-2005 held at the Government College of Physical Education, said a statement on Monday.

Prof Ahmed said that the celebration of the international year of Sport and Physical Education-2005 was a symbol of our participation in the universal community.

He further stated that he would provide all the necessary help and support to the College of Physical Education for the promotion of quality education.

In the end, he distributed souvenirs of the seminar to the guests, speakers and delegates of the seminar.

Earlier, Prof Mohammad Rais Alvi, EDO (Higher Education), who was the chairman of the seminar committee, said that this college would start a new track on scientific foundations in the field of physical education, and for this purpose a computerized laboratory was in progress and near about Rs20million had been approved for this project by the Sindh government.—APP
