QUETTA, Dec 6: Financial managers of the Balochistan government and a team of the federal finance ministry led by Minister of State Omar Ayub Khan held a meeting here on Tuesday and prepared recommendations for solving the financial problem of the province.
The eight-hour meeting presided over by Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf was attended by the Balochistan’s Senior Minister Maulana Abdul Wasay, Finance Minister Syed Ehsan, Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development Qayyum Nazar Changezi and Finance Secretary Mahfooz Ali Khan attended the meeting.
According to sources, the meeting was briefed on the financial problems of the province and shortage of funds for the Public Sector Development Programme.
The provincial finance secretary apprised the minister of state the reasons which had forced Balochistan to obtain overdraft and costly loans from the State Bank and the federal government.
The meeting prepared various recommendations which would be submitted to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
It was observed that Balochistan should take steps to increase its resources and various steps were suggested for the purpose.
The meeting decided that the federal government would support the development of basic infrastructure and provide a strong base for ensuring overall economic and social uplift of the province and its people.
