Illegal telephone exchange seized

ISLAMABAD, Dec 3: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) along with FIA and PTCL officials conducted a raid and seized an illegal telephone exchange arresting three persons here on Saturday. ccording to details, a private call centre had set up an illegal gateway telephone exchange at I/10-3 sector in the federal capital, from where about 2,000 calls were being made daily, which caused Rs0.3 million losses daily and Rs9 million every month to the government.

The exchange was running through sixteen mobile telephones and was working since 2004. The runners of the exchange carried the bandwidth from the PTCL.

PTA Rawalpindi zonal director, Sajjad Latif Awan, along with PTCL’s Col Aurangzeb and FIA’s assistant director, Rai Abdul Hai conducted the raid and arrested accused Amer.—Online
