Oil prices ease

Published November 24, 2005

LONDON, Nov 23: World oil prices fell slightly on Wednesday before the latest weekly snapshot of US crude inventories and after a surge the day before caused by the arrival of cold weather in the northern hemisphere.

New York’s main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in January, fell 20 cents to $58.64 per barrel in electronic dealing.

In London, the price of Brent North Sea crude for January delivery lost 21 cents to 56.20 dollars per barrel.

Crude futures ended more than a dollar higher on both sides of the Atlantic on Tuesday as falling temperatures across the US and Europe prompted predictions of a sharp rise in demand for heating fuel.—AFP
