KARACHI: Man wounded on resisting robbery bid

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 19: A young man was shot at and wounded when he resisted to bandits snatching his cellphone in a bazaar in Nazimabad on Saturday. Police said that Osama Abdul Ghani, 28, was intercepted by two bandits in Chawla Market, Nazimabad No 2. The bandits tried to snatch his mobile phone at gunpoint. On his resistance, the bandits shot at him, snatched the cellphone and fled.

Later, Osama was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was admitted. The police, however, could not trace the mobile phone snatchers.

ARRESTS: Police arrested a gang of robbers involved in numerous cases of snatching mobile phones and cash.

Police said that Head Constable Faquir Hussain and Constable Swaleh Mohammad signalled three men on a motorbike to stop near McDonalds in North Nazimabad. Instead, the youths tried to escape by opening fire at police, which was returned. As a result, two of the suspects, Abdul Wahid and Riaz, received bullet wounds and the third suspect, Tariq, fell on the ground and received minor injuries. All of the suspects were taken to a hospital.

In recognition to their services, HC Faquir Hussain and Constable Swaleh Mohammad were promoted to their next rank.
