Injured Vaughan practices in nets

MULTAN, Nov 14: Injured England captain Michael Vaughan spent some time in the nets on Monday while team-mates played in the first Test against Pakistan. A spokesman for the England team said it was still too early to say whether he would be fit for the second Test in Faisalabad starting on Nov 20.

Vaughan injured his right knee during a tour match in Lahore this month.

Stand-in captain Marcus Trescothick scored 193 runs in the first Test to help England to a 144-run first-innings lead.

“Michael had a few throw downs in the nets and did a light run. But it is too early to say whether he will be fit for the second Test,” media manager Andrew Walpole said.

Vaughan has said he has a slight chance of playing in the second Test and if he does not recover from his injury soon he will think about returning home.—Agencies
