Four killed as rival groups clash

SHIKARPUR, Nov 14: Four people were killed and two others injured in a clash which took place between Marfanis and Chandios near Pathan Wah in the jurisdiction of Humayoon police station here on Monday. It is learn that a group of 30 Chandios attacked the Habib Marfani village with rocket launchers, Kalashnikovs and other automatic weapons on Monday morning and the Marfanis returned the fire.

In the heavy exchange of fire which lasted for eight hours four persons identified as Sohrab Chandio, Abdul Haq alias Naang Chandio, Eidan Marfani and Abdul Rehman Marfani were killed, while two Marfanis identified as Mohammad Ashraf and Mir Khan received serious bullet injuries.

One of the injured Mohammad Ashraf Marfani was referred to the Larkana Civil Hospital in a serious condition after getting first aid at the Garhi Yasin Hospital while another injured Mir Khan Marfani was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Shikarpur.

A heavy contingent of police and rangers led by Shikarpur DPO Pir Farid Jan Sarhandi and Lt-Col Tariq Mehmood Sarwar of Shahbaz Rangers rushed to the scene and controlled the situation. Police have set up pickets in the troubled areas to ensure peace where an uneasy calm prevailed.

The place of incident is located on the border of Jacobabad and Shikarpur districts.

No FIR from both the groups was registered till the filing of the report.

The motive behind clash is said to be an ongoing dispute which has claimed 13 lives.
