Admiral Haroon appointed Vice Chief of Naval Staff

ISLAMABAD, Nov 7: Vice Admiral Mohammad Haroon has been appointed Vice Chief of Naval Staff with immediate effect, said a press release issued by the public relations department of Pakistan Navy here on Monday.

Presently serving as Chief of Staff at the PN headquarters, Admiral Haroon joined Navy on May 11, 1967.

After completion of three-and-a-half years training, he was commissioned on December 1, 1970.

He joined the Submarine Service in 1972 and commanded the Submarine Squadron.

He has the distinction of commanding three submarines and a destroyer.

A graduate of US Naval Staff College Rhode Island, Admiral Haroon did Armed Forces War Course from National Defence College.

His major staff appointments include Commander Operations and Sea Training to Commander Submarines (COMSUBS), DS War Wing (NDC), Naval Attache at New Delhi (India), Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Plans) at Naval Headquarters, DG Training at Joint Staff Headquarters, Commander Karachi and Commander Pakistan Fleet.

In recognition to his services the admiral was awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat.
