MIRPURKHAS, Oct 31: Peo-ple are expressing concern over growing pollution in the city caused by cotton and ginning factories. Manik Laghari, Ghulam Rasool Mugheri, Noor Mohammad, Ahmad Shar and others criticized the district government for not paying attention to the problem.

They said pollution caused by the factories was causing asthma and allergy. They said doctors were advising asthma and allergy patients to leave the city and stay somewhere else till the closing of the cotton season.

They demanded that the government should ensure that the factories used filters and take other precautionary measures.

POWER: Over 100 villages and towns, including Mirpu-rkhas, remained without power supply on Monday morning.

Power supply was suspended to Mirpurkhas, Shadi Palli, Pithoro, Chhore, Umerkot, Dhoronaro, Kunri, Nabisar, Mirwah, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Samaro and other areas after Fajar prayer.

When contacted, an employee of the Hyderabad Electricity Supply Company said power supply had been disconnected from the Hala Grid station, Hyderabad, due to some fault.

He said the supply was restored at 10am after repair of the fault.

NAZIM: District Nazim Dr Kaneez Sughra Junejo has said all available resources will be utilized to improve conditions of government hospitals.

Speaking after a briefing by the health department at her office here on Monday, she asked doctors to treat patients with the spirit of service.

She said the conditions of the hospitals should be properly reported so that problems could be resolved.

The nazim further said that regular monitoring of local purchase medicines and provision of medicines to deserving patients would be ensured.

She directed officers to keep a strict watch on staff to improve their performance.

She asked the DCO to conduct a survey of the building of the civil hospital and other old buildings of hospitals which were in pathetic conditions so that recommendations could be sent to the government to repair them.
