LONDON, Oct 14: England captain Michael Vaughan believes the time has arrived for England’s Ashes heroes to focus on upcoming cricket tour of Pakistan. England’s cricketers, who are scheduled to fly to Pakistan on Oct 26, have been in much demand since sealing their first Test series victory over Australia in 18 years at The Oval last month.

But Vaughan thinks next week’s training camp at Loughborough Should mark the start of work in earnest for the winter.

“I’ve had a break, you have to switch off and give a bit of time to other things. There have been so many different things on.

“I’ve been on a stag do and I’ve been inundated with requests for all sorts of things... But the focus now turns to Pakistan. We have got a training camp next week and we are all looking forward to the trip.”

Despite losing bowlers Simon Jones and Chris Tremlett to injuries, Vaughan is confident his squad, which does include 20-year-old Durham paceman Liam Plunkett, can quickly adapt to sub-continental conditions to hit form as they bid to topple Australia at the top of the world rankings.

The captain added: “Losing Jones is a big blow but it is a chance for Liam Plunkett to show us what he can do. Hopefully he will do well, he has all the attributes. He is very talented and I have seen a bit of him.”

“They have got some great players, but so did Australia and we did alright against them. But it is very important how we react to the conditions.

“We have got a young team and we have got to react fast. We will have to wait and see the conditions before we decide the make-up of the team.”—PPI
