KARACHI, Oct 12: Six ships carrying steel coils, containers and to load rice are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was relatively slow where four ships, Iran Sattari, APL Pusan, to unload and load containers, Bright Sun, to offload coal and Majori to load molasses were berthed after the departure of six.

The ships, which departed included PONL Buenos Aires, Yang Jiang He, Fifi Queen, Captain Tassos, Kudam, Kota Jasa, while APL Pusan, Iran Sattari, Hyundai Stride, Thor Captain, Sifnos Sky and Med Lerice are due to sail out on Thursday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was modest as the total tonnage fell to 65,327 tons from over 0.1m tons during the last two days. Export tonnage rose to 15,928 tons, while import cargo fell to 49,399 tons including 3,815 tons of sugar and 9,241 tons of fertilizer.

The followed ships are due on Thursday: Parsian, with 9,206 tons of steel coils, Chem Bothnia, to load 5,000 tons of molasses, Golden Express, Y.M. Faha, with container, African Star to load 13,500 tons of rice and Maersk Taiki, to unload 1,808 vehicles.
