KARACHI, Oct 3: Candyland displayed excellent play to dethrone Havoc by a solitary point to grab the Karachi Gymkhana (KG) bridge tournament at KG bridge hall on Sunday.
Candyland came from behind to topple Havoc by 132 Victory Points (VPs), relegating them to second spot with 131 VPs.
When the final started Havoc’s M A Ansari-Shouq Hussain, Mohsin Chandna-Tehseen Gheewala, Imran Jaka-Kamran Ibrahim needed just six VPs to ensure title win.
But Candyland with their regular player Muhammad Hasan Askri and Khalid Mohiuddin-M Ismail, Hamid Mohiuddin-Mubashir Puri outplayed them 25-5 VPs.
Adventurer secured third spot with 122 VPs and EFU finished fourth with 122 VPs.
Havoc dominated the play on the first day with four straight wins and were set to retain crown but Candyland upset their plans.
Earlier on the second day, leaders Hopefuls suffered a 6-24 defeat to Adventurer and Havoc clinched a clear 23-7 victory over Elixir.
The winners Candyland received Rs20,000, runners-up Havoc Rs10,000 while Adventurer and EFU got Rs8,000 and Rs5,000, respectively.—APP
