KARACHI, Oct 3: Thirteen more countries have submitted their entries for the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World snooker championship, raising the total to 24, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) announced on Monday.

The fortnight event will be held on Nov 7-20 under specially erected tents in the parking area at Arabian Sea Country Club.

The thirteen comprising China, Egypt, England, Finland, Hong Kong, Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Latvia, Mauritius, Poland, South Africa and Thailand, will join Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Sweden, India, Malta, Qatar, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, United Arab Emirates who have so far confirmed their entries.

Bangladesh and Syria have sent the names of their delegates only. Latvia is sending only a woman, while England has interestingly not entered their women team so far, said PBSA joint secretary Arif Taherbhoy.

Pakistan is holding the event for the third time. It organized it in 1966 and 1993, but the country is conducting both men’s and women’s event for the first time.

Egypt: Mohamed Elhamy (men), Amr Gmal Abas (delegate).

England: David Grace, Daniel Ward (men) Simon Smith (delegate).

Finland: Jussi Tyrkko (men), Veikko Hannula (delegate/referee).

Iceland: Brynjar Valdimarsson, Kristjan Helgason (men).

Ireland: Robert Murphy, Brendan O’Donoghue (men).

Latvia: Tatjana Vasiljeva (women).

Mauritius: Saleem Moosa, Shawanza Lauthan (men), Ghurbhurn Rahen (delegate).

Poland: Marcin Jewtuch, Krzyszata Wrobel (men), Mal Gorzata Klys (women).

South Africa: Ricky Tregonning, Mutalieb Allie (women), Sam Louw (delegate)

Syria: Nasar Ali Sayed (delegate).

Thailand: Issara Kachhaiwong, Atthasit Mahitthi (men).—APP
