Search operation begins in Gilgit

GILGIT, Sept 10: Security forces on Saturday morning mounted a search operation in Barmas and Majinee Mohallah localities of Gilgit to track down terrorists who killed two persons on Thursday and also to arrest the culprits who fired thousands of shots in the city. The security forces have entered Kashroot locality after combing different areas. The sources said that security forces had seized some small weapons and detained some suspects but they refused to divulge more information about the suspects and make of the seized weapons.

The rangers, Frontier Constabulary and police cordoned off many areas and passengers and commuters were put through body searches at entry and exit points.

The city is in the grip of tension for the last week due to killing of five people, including two FC men, in separate attacks over the week.
