HYDERABAD: President’s statement criticized

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Aug 7: The Sindh Chamber of Agriculture has expressed resentment over a statement of President Gen Pervez Musharraf about construction of the Kalabagh dam.

A meeting of the chamber held here on Sunday maintained that where from the water would come for storage in the dam when there was no water in the Indus River.

It observed that water was released into the sea this year due to flood which was necessary to protect rich agricultural land from sea erosion.

The meeting adopted a resolution calling upon the president to wait for the report of the technical committee, headed by A. N. G. Abbasi, and then convene a meeting of all political parties to discuss the issue.
