KARACHI: Cleanliness drive begins in Site


KARACHI, Aug 7: A cleanliness drive was started in Site area on the directives of Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Minister for Industries Mohammad Adil Siddiqui on Saturday.

According to a handout, MD Site Ltd Shazar Shamoon visited various areas on the first day of the 15-day campaign and reviewed the cleanliness work.

The governor and the minister have asked factory owners to cooperate with the government for making the area neat, clean and beautiful. This would help maintain a pollution-free environment and attract investors.

Garbage during the campaign is being lifted from open places. While rain-water drains would be cleaned and plantation would be carried out in the area.

Meanwhile, a cleanliness drive was also carried out on the directive of Governor Ishratul Ibad in Orangi Town.

Orangi Town Caretaker Qamar Zaman, in a meeting to review arrangements for the celebrations of Independence Day, called upon sanitary staff to use all resources for cleanliness.

He said the town administration would remain active round-the-clock and garbage would be removed from various areas of the town before August 14.

Mr Zaman said practical steps would be taken to address the complaints of residents regarding various civic problems.

He also announced that a ceremony would be organised on August 14 to mark the Independence Day by hoisting the national flag and lighting all union council offices.—APP
