DAK stun champions Peshawar


KOHAT, July 20: Dara Adam Khail and 4-Cavalry (Army) advanced to next round after registering victories in the All-Pakistan Ajab Khan memorial basketball tournament at Signal Centre Court on Wednesday.

Dara Adam Khail, aided by outstanding performance from Murad Khan, Jehanzaib Khan and Maluk Khan, stunned defending champions Peshawar 95-88 in a thriller.

4-Cavalry defeated Kohat-A 117-97 in another hotly-contested match watched by capacity crowd.

Dara faced tough resistance from Peshawar before they snatched win. Murad made 36 individual baskets with five three pointers from the distance, Jehanzaib 34 with six three pointers and Maluk scored 31 points converting four three pointers to steer their team to success.

Shoaib (30), with five three pointers, Farid (19) with two three pointers, Lawangeen Khan (12) and Saleem (10) put in their best for the losers.

In the other match, 4-Cavalry beat Kohat-A 117-97. Gul Badshah scored 35 with seven three pointers, Javed Khan 24 individual points with five three pointers and Ajmal made 18 individual points with four three pointers for the winners.

Riaz (23), Kashif (20), Islam Inayat Khan (15) and Afzal Ahmed (10) contributed for the losers.—APP
