HYDERABAD, July 17: Under a scheduled campaign, activists of the Awami Tehrik observed hunger strike across Sindh in protest against issuing NICs to illegal aliens and demolition of Sindhi villages in Karachi.
In Hyderabad, they observed a token hunger strike at the Naseem Nagar Chowk, Qasimabad, on Saturday.
They demanded that issuing of NICs to foreigners and usurpation of Sindh’s land, business and employment by outsiders be stopped.
Local AT leaders Dewan Aru Mal and Mohammad Khan said a particular ethnic group had been thrust upon the people of Sindh.
They alleged that the terrorists and feudal lords were looting the resources of Sindh.
They said the people of Sindh would continue struggle against the rule of the terrorists.
NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Activists of the Awami Tehrik observed a token hunger strike here on Sunday in protest against issuing of NICs to illegal immigrants and bifurcation of districts and talukas.
Ghulam Hussain Soomro, Muneer Almani and Irshad led the protesters.
The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against construction of Kalabagh dam and Thal canal and issuing of NICs to aliens.
They demanded that Sindhi localities in Karachi should not be demolished.
They said that Gen Pervez Musharraf wanted to launch anti-Sindh projects in the interest of Punjab.
They said Gen Musharraf had also appointed MQM’s governor which showed his open enmity to Sindh and Sindhis.
They said thousands of acres of Sindh’s land along the Super Highway had been given to blue-eyed people.
