KARACHI: Bus owners endorse call for strike on 21st


KARACHI, July 16: A meeting of Karachi Bus Owners Association on Saturday endorsed the proposed transport strike in the city on July 21. According to the press release issued by the Karachi Transport Ittehad, the meeting was held with Tariq Chaudhry in the chair. Karachi Bus Owners Association Secretary General Irshad Hussain, who is also KTI president, told the meeting that after the rise of Rs2.68 per litre in diesel prices, it had become very difficult to ply buses. He said that the oil prices had been raised five times in six months.

He also complained that the government had not paid compensation for torching of buses and minibuses after Madinatul Ilm tragedy in Karachi. —PPI
