Skardu editor gets bail

By Our Correspondent

SKARDU, July 6: A sessions judge has granted bail to the chief editor of a local magazine in a case filed against him for publishing ‘provocative’ material against President Pervez Musharraf. The local police had filed the case against Manzoor Hussain Parwana, the chief editor of the local Kargil International Magazine last year for publishing seditious articles and arrested its publisher and editor Ghulam Shehzad Agha.

The judge granted the bail to Mr Parwana after hearing arguments of his lawyer and the district attorney.

The Northern Areas administration had banned the magazine on September 8, 2004, and filed the case in the city police station under sections 124-A, 131, 153-A, 501 and 505-B of the Pakistan Penal Code.
