Man dies in explosion

HARIPUR, July 3: A mechanic was killed and three of his clients were injured in an explosion in a welding plant in the Khalabat Township here on Saturday evening. The explosion was caused by an electric short-circuit, one of the injured said. The Khalabat Township police quoted one Faisal Khan as saying that he with his two friends, Mumtaz and Mir Wais, had visited the Anora steel workshop of Kala Khan to buy a steel hanger.

He said that the blast occurred when Kala Khan started welding the hanger pieces, injuring all of them.

The injured were taken to the DHQ hospital, Haripur, where Kala Khan died. The other three injured were stated to be out of danger.—Correspondent
