ISLAMABAD, June 30: Fourteen swimmers have been tentatively selected to represent Pakistan at the multi-sports 10th South Asian Games (SAG) at Colombo (Sri Lanka) next year.
“These 14 have been picked tentatively for the South Asian Games”, according to Col. Aftab of Pakistan Swimming Federation.
“Minor adjustments can still be made in the 14- member squad by the time the event starts at Colombo”, he added.
The 10th South Asian Games are scheduled to be held at Colombo (Sri Lanka) from April 18 to 28, 2006, with competitions to be held in 19 disciplines with hockey also likely to be approved as 20th sport.
The 14 selected after the 46th National Swimming Championship which concluded here at Pakistan Sports Complex pool on Wednesday were Sikandar Khan (Wapda), Ali Gul (Pakistan Navy), Abdul Aziz (Punjab), Mumtaz Ahmed, Mehboob Ali, Adil Baig, Muhammad Humair, Nasir Ali, Nasir Hussain, Imdad Ali, Faiz Muhammad, Nisar Ahmed, Altaf Hussain (Army) and Fazar Samad (Higher Education Commission).—APP
