Death toll in water-borne disease rises


LAHORE, June 29: The death toll from Tuesday’s ‘water contamination’ that affected a large number of residents of Ravi Road area rose to seven on Wednesday. Residents of Kasurpura, Marzipura and Shafiqabad in northern Lahore were rushed to different hospitals with diarrhoea-like symptoms on Monday. One of the affected men died in the evening and four on Tuesday. Two more breathed their last on Wednesday.

The local government authorities identified the contamination of sewage in drinking water as the cause of the deaths.
